Hey hey friends, exams are over!!! Over!!! Yeah!! NO fear and NO worries… till later *bish bash whack!* erm. Sorry… anti-climax… :p
Anyway, last thurs, there was prayer meeting… and one good, faithful student came! Wanna know who?
The name starts with a J… hehe.
Here’s the verse of the day!
11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails- given by one Shepherd.
12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:
13 Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing whether it is good or evil.
Okie, some new words and ideas for me (and some of you? :p)
Goads: sharp pointed sticks used for driving cattle (stimulate in memory)
Embedded: established in memory
One shepherd: God/ King
Warned: caution
Them: words given by one Shepherd
Making of many books: Well, writing was well established since 3500 B.C.
Fear God: The fear of God is the realization of His unchanging power and justice…
So taking a closer peek at verse 14… we can infer that there is endless information and books available and we can’t possibly read all or do all. Guess we must be selective in choosing the materials we read (especially things that do not come from the Shepherd). Ultimately, what we study and read must still be pleasing to God. Yep!
Thinking along those lines… and the exam period… hahaha, have we wearied ourselves with reading the many books of no end and neglected God, His Word and His commandments?
