Armed for Battle I

The Full Amour — Eph 6:14-18

The Helmet of Salvation

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Eph 6:17)

Right on top of the head of this warrior (this warrior can be any of us) is our helmet of Salvation. So there we are. We all know that we have salvation. We are saved. But what exactly is salvation is all its fullness? It is this:

Our past:
When we confessed Jesus as our Saviour, our penalty for sin is paid. With our acknowledgement of Christ that day, we are justified.

Our present:
Our salvation frees us from the power of sin and we are sanctified. (Rom 6:18)

Our future:
We will one day be free from the presence of sin and we will be glorified.
(Rom 8:30)

And when we put on this helmet of salvation, we have the security that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God, for we have been saved past, present and future.
