Help
Published by oldschoolglamour September 5th, 2007 in PagesHi everyone, I’m a new member. 15 year old female who is really, really confused. I can’t seem to find the direction in my life. And at one point in time I did put everything down and embrace the Lord whole-heartedly, but I couldn’t feel his presence or anything, at all. Others tell me about their encounters with Jesus and I’ve never had anything like that, nothing, zilch, nada. Even after I read the bible daily and prayed for Him to reveal himself to me. So I kinda lost faith along the way, and lost my bible as well :/ And, my father used to be a Christian, but only was so because his whole family was. He’s highly against me being a Christian and does not let me go to church. I’m finding this path very confusing, and difficult. I don’t know what to do. I don’t think I have the willpower to just keep up with all the praying stuff, especially when it seems like it doesn’t mean anything. It’s just really discouraging.
Some advice would be nice. Thanks.

Hi there!
I think every christian has gone through what you are going through right now.We have different experience in our walk with Jesus. Concerning the thing that you write I want to say that there are times in our christian walk when the Lord seems to be far away and He doesn’t want to have communion with us. The truth is though that He is true to His words and as He promised to us He will never leav us nor forsake us. From my own experience there are times in our christian walk when we go through a desert live, so to speak. Why this happens? I realy don’t know, but they do happen for sure.
One thing I’ve learned from a christian brother is that NOT to listen to/rely on our feelings but stand firm in the promises of the word of God in all times and confess the promises. The other equaly important thing to do when we don’t “feel” the presence of the Lord in our life is to WORSHIP Him for His Goodness, might, mercy etc with either our own words or any worship song. This helps us to go into/get access in to the throne of GRACE and get among other things, warmth, closeness to the Lord, revalations etc.
Just one more thing, pray in TANGUES, it is a wonderful instrument through which the Holy spirit uses to lift up us/edify us and even others through us. Let the Spirit pray through you.
I hope you have found this helpful and I promise to pray for you so that the Lord reveals His own self to you in a way that is easy and understandable to you. Remember that you are unique and as such the Lord will use you in a different way and through a different experience than other people/believers.
Abaide in the Lord! John 15 and 17
May the Lord give you the desire of your heart!
Ps!I hope my english is not so difficult to understand. I’m not good at it.
In Him/Dan
I totally agree to what Dan said and in fact I don’t think I can add something more to that. But I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that you’re not the only one who feels that way. For the past weeks, I myself have been struggling on the thought that God is there. I know He is. I just want to know it more. Like you, I want to feel Him too. I want His presence to manifest in every area of my life. And ofcourse, I say that He is there when all things are good, when He blesses me. But then God is still there even when things aren’t doing well, even when we do not feel Him at all.
Relationship with Jesus is not based on our emotions but the Truth, His Word. Let’s keep on pressing on. He said that if we seek Him with all of our heart, we will find Him. He draws near to us as we draw near to Him. Never lose hope. And pray to that the Holy Spirit would show you even little things that would affirm you that He is indeed there with you.
Running the race with you,
Toni
Welcome to the true christian walk. Jesus promised us that we will have tribulation here so what do you expect, a bed of roses? Do not get me wrong, God is not a comsic kill-joy, neither is He a father who pampers His children. Whatever is good for us, He will give, including those that we think that is bad in our myopic human sense.
I encourage you to read good christian books by authors who expounds on scriptures. Books that gives us insight on when, what, why a particular bible author writes the way he was led to write a particular passage. My favourite author are John MacAuthur and D A Carson. Check them up.
Last of all, life is not that bad if we really count our blessing.
Hope this help
