Published by TedFox November 1st, 2005 in OthersThere has been a recent spate of forwarded SMS about a pastor, being sentenced to execution by beating in East Timor, and to pray for him.
Just want to say that the sms is fake, but i’m sure he’ll appreciate if you could pray for his ministry.

Apparently new rumors are going around in Oct 2006. While I can’t say for sure that the news is fake, I doubt that they are real either.

But I’m sure as a missionary, he is facing much persecution, like many others. So I implore you to keep all who are sharing God’s word in prayer

I just want to say that, I was also caught out by the fake message. I am overjoyed however that the man of God is alive and well to continue God’s work.
No doubt the many prayers that were said will be working on his and his family’s behalf. God works in mysterious ways. No prayer was wasted.
The Bible says that “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard [him], and saved him out of all his troubles… The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them…Many [are] the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. (Psalms 34:6, 7 & 19)
Praise God for Stalwarts such as “this poor man”

I have personally emailed the church to verify. Yup, it is a hoax
That is good in a way.. nobody is dead.
I am going to say that i too was fooled by the message, and am thankful for the fact that Ferdie Flores is still alive, but it goes to show many things for one, people will bring you down to their level so they can step on you and get rid of you, it is the same thing with christianity. Many people do not believe and so they try to get rid of you. That’s why it touched my heart for the good, because it made me realize that many people in the ministry will die trying, while others around the world who do not want to know god will die failures because they didn’t want to believe. It oes to show what the world has come to.
I just want to say that although this particular message was fake it’s amazing to see how many people prayed for him and forwarded that message. It has been going all around England and the US and basically everywhere there are Christians. It’s great to know that the Christian community responds like that! I’m sure that when there is an emergency God will help the message to get around twice as fast!!

Dear Prayer Partners,
This letter is the sequel of my testimony related to the incident transpired in Laclo on October 08, 2005 and October 15, 2005 respectively.
Being tired of the very slow progress of the investigation, I decided myself to go back to Laclo to know the real name of the leaders of those who barge in the church member’s house and chase us out of Laclo.
November 9, 2005 I went back to Laclo, as I ask some people about the names of those involved, I told them that my intention is for them to show up and settle the problem amicably and I don’t want them the world to know that Militia is still living in Laclo in the context of the violence that happened.
While I was sitting inside the house of the church member Deolinda and Manuel Soares, around 1:00 o’clock PM a mob led by the Village chief of Laku Mesak came and beat me. There are more or less 200 people surrounded the house but only more or less ten men were able to get inside and I don’t know how many people did beat me. One of those young people rescued me covering my head but leaving my back exposed to punching and kicking. They held me hostage in that house for maybe one hour until one of the members slip out to call the Police.
While in agony and half conscious I still manage to drive the motorbike back to Manatuto. I went straight to the Police station and tell the Police Chief (Faria) about the incident. I ask him not to tell the problem to their Head in Dili as I still would like to settle the problem amicably and he told me that there is an order for them to report any incident implicating foreigners. After a brief talk to the phone (maybe a cohort in Dili) the chief proceeded to Dili while one of the police ferried me to the hospital. In the Hospital the nurses treated me well and give me a shot to ease my pain and control my blood pressure. My blood pressure rose to 170/110. I called my friend Jose Soares and he ferried me back to my house. Before I sleep, I pass water and in severe pain I noticed urine flows mixed with blood. A sedative (pill) help me sleep well that night.
The following day, November 10, 2005 police officer came to my house twice asking me to appear to the police chief’s office. The third time police officer came back with a police car force me to come to the police office, feeling very heavy I asked my wife to change my clothes as I ca even hardly get up. When I reach there the Police chief (Faria) told me I was a liar screaming at me without giving time to bring my witness. He condemned me and charges me guilty of inventing a story but I vehemently and consistently tell him that I was beaten. I was surprised because as a victim he did not even give me time so I could present my witnesses and deprived of my right to due process. The police chief (Faria) charged me guilty, when he is not a judge.
From the police office the Police chief brings me to Laclo told me that we will investigate the incident. I was very weak, have not drink medicine yet, and haven’t eaten anything. Late when I know the Police chief deceived me because he bring inside the Roman Catholic campus. There the RC priest and lots of people there sitting already. I know I was set up. There I was belittled, mocked, insulted, defamed, jeered, accuse falsely as a thief. The crowd shouted several times that they are willing to go to jail after killing me. The priest told me never to come to that place because if the populace will kill me it is not their fault. The police also warned not to go out from my house as he is not accountable for my safety.

I received this sms today. Just want to know is it true or a fake one. Lot of christians are parying for the Pastor and his family. Its good that people are praying but somebody should stop this rumors.

I too am thankful for the prayer that this man has received BUT think of the millions of Kingdom dollars & man-hours that are flowing out of the Kingdom and into the world system as a result of the sms & internet costs incurred by Christians in support of persuance of this hoax!
I got this text today is it real this time or not? Probably not..
I also just received server prayer request sms’s today for ferdie flores telling me he will be executed tomorrow, is this real this time?
Well this sms has spread all the way to Australia now as i have just recieved it. It’s a great thing when people do pray but it also sad to see people making a hoax of such a serious thing for many christians around the globe. I guess this is a time for us to pray for those christians whose lives are at stake for what they believe and a time praise God for the faith and strength of those who are now with him because of what they believed.
This sms is has found its way to Singapore and I got this msg from more than 1 perso! So I decided to check it up. Good to know that no such thing is happening. Nonetheless We should stop forwarding the msg and focus our prayers toward those that really need it. Remember, the devil’s greatest weapon is distraction…
I did not know Pastor Flores or anything about him. I received this SMS today in Tanzania and I also forwadred it to other Christians. I then decided to search on the internet more information on this. Thank God I saw this.
I received this sms today, in beijin of China. I search the internet, and found that it was not ture. Thank God I saw this too.
May the spirit of The Living GOD be with the Flores family ,I got the sms in Zimbabwe 2 days ago, may the will of GOD BE DONE.
The sms has also reached Nairobi, Kenya. I was so touched by the message that I took time to pray for him first. Then I went to the website and East Timor newspapers and realized it was not true. Please stop forwarding this message coz now you know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
Thanks God that is not true. but when i got the msn i prayed for him first and forward to our pray partner too. they forward around. but it is good to know so many people did pray for him and the family.
I study in beijing,and i received the message hours before.It is not good for this one-year-ago message to spread all over the world for such a long time.let’s pray that God will give us the wisdom to pray for the right thing.

I got the same SMS in Chinese from 2 friends within minutes in HK. Amazing to know the msg is going around the globe. Good to know that it’s not true. May God’s love spreads around the globe like this too …..

I received this sms today from 2 different friends in H.K.
i was shocked about the message , so i search wheather it is a real one or just fake.
But it is a good news to see that it was a fake one.
God love all of us and it may be a good method for us to spread the gospel from sms.
I receive this SMS in HK just now.I was shocked when I read that message, but I was even shocked when I search for this person on the Net, and found that this SMS was spread around in October 2005!!!!! 2005? Come on man!

But I still want to thank God, as he brought me to see so many christians are concerned about the issue, and HE let me
know that this message is just a fake one, so that I can sleep soundly tonight! Hallelujah!!!
I got this SMS in Taiwan. Alought I found a lot information about 2005, but who can tell me where is Ferdie Flores right now ??? Is he still in danger or not ???
i’ve also received this SMS in HK, but when I search in internet I found this news is posted last year. I want to know whether this pastor is being excuted again?
I cannot find this pastor’s own page so may be the news of being saved cannot be posted to the christians worldwide.
But I’m still amazed that this news can travel around the world, this proved that we are more powerful when we are united!!!
We need to keep pary for this pastor and the ministry in E.Timor.~~~~

I was also sent this message, and was deeply shocked & grieved, my toughts were with P. F. Flores, today 14 Oct 2006 8:40am I reacerced him on the web and saw this message is 1 year old! please make sure of the facts nextime as I wasn’t able to sleep about this rumour! Its good to know there are people who care, but if this thing continues, nextime he/they wil really need it and sadly it wil be ignored… Consider, Liz South Africa
My heart was brused by this SMS and I felt the love for my brother. When I searched the internet I just found list of inquiries and disputes. Can somebody clear the air please. Anyhow I trusted God for his life and family.
Please pray for my wife and myself. She wants to leave me. I am open to the change in my heart, my mind, and my will and my actions and I fully allow God to do this. Please pray that my wife will have a change in her heart, her mind, her will, and her actions and that she would fully allow God to do this.

1.) Our minds would be bound to the mind of Christ.
2.) Our wills would be bound to the will of God.
