Convenant: A binding agreement giving responsibility to both parties of the covenant.

Man was created to have a interpersonal relationship with God.
Man had 3 benefits, as given to Adam.

• A true purpose in work. Gen 2:15
• Knowledge of the truth through divine revelation. Gen 2:18
• Morality, with the promise of Eternal life

Yet all these were lost when man rebelled.
But the solution was provided through Jesus Christ, who is:

• The way
• The truth
• and the life

Covenant

Divine Commitment

• To generate faith
• That HIS people may confidently trust HIM to do so

Divine requirement

• To generate obedience

All Covenants between Man and God:

• Do not contradict
• All connect to one another
• Effective in strengthening faith and obedience
• Establishing a believing and obedient people for HIMSELF

A new Covenant: Established by Jesus Christ

• Law will be written to the NEW heart of the people. Jer 31:31,33
• Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith
• The perfect sacrifice
• Eternal priesthood (for the followers of Christ
• Eternal King (Establishing the kingdom of God

Jesus as a guarantor of our response to God.
