…at the end of the service, Pastor Dunn gave an invitation for anyone present, to come forward if they wanted to know Christ. I took the Pastor up on his invitation. He took me into one of the church offices. We sat down and opened up the Bible. He started out by asking me if I believed that I was a sinner. I responded with “yes.” He showed me some passages in the Bible. Two that stick out in particular are; Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Pastor Dunn continued to explain…God sent his son to die for our sins. (Well, I already knew that.) What I didn’t know is that we must repent of our sins. He again, showed me more Bible verses… Romans 10:9,10 & 13 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” We also read John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I asked him about being “born again” and he went on to show me some more verses that explained it to me. John 3:3 says “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily verily, I say into thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The rest of the chapter continues to explain my question…
